Today as I prepare dessert for Thanksgiving dinner, I can’t help but think of all the people who aren’t as fortunate to have a hot meal everyday. Today I want to feature two charities that focus on feeding the hungry.
FreeRice.com is the sister site to Poverty.com. Their focus is to provide free education to everyone and to help eliminate world hunger by providing free rice to the hungry. The free education begins with everyone who visits the site. The home page has trivia questions and for every question that you get right 20 grains of rice is donated to those in need around the world through the UN World Food Program. FeedingAmerica.org (formally know as Second Harvest) is a domestic hunger relief program. The Feeding America network provides food assistance to more than 25 million low-income people facing hunger in the United States, including children and seniors. They have a network of more than 200 food banks that serve all 50 states. For every $1 donated, Feeding America helps provide 20 pounds of food and grocery products to men, women and children facing hunger in our country.
